Frequently Asked Questions About the Nayara Resorts

General Questions About the Nayara Resorts

Are the Nayara Resorts all-inclusive?

Bocas del Toro, Nayara Alto Atacama, and Nayara Hangaroa all offer all-inclusive experiences. At our Nayara Arenal destinations, you have the flexibility to choose from various packages that allow you to either explore the resorts and the area at your own pace, choose a more comprehensive experience, or aim for a mix of both.

Are there culinary options for vegetarians or people with food allergies?

Absolutely. All of our restaurant concepts have plant-based options, and our culinary teams in each destination have unique and creative ways to accommodate any food allergies or dietary restrictions you might have.

Simply let us know about your dietary restrictions when booking your stay, and our team will handle the rest!

Do I need to get local money at the airport before I arrive?

All of the Nayara Resorts accommodate cash-free travel, so there’s no need to exchange money before your  stay. If you’re interested in exploring the towns and surroundings off-property in Arenal and would like to have local currency with you while you do so, you can always ask at the front desk.

How do my daily experiences work?

For both Nayara Hangaroa and Nayara Alto Atacama, daily experiences are included in your resort packages. These include = excursions and activities, and typically take a half-day, allowing you to schedule one experience in the morning and another in the afternoon. There are also longer experiences that take up a full day, which count for both morning and afternoon activities. For more information, you can check the details of the package that you’ve chosen.

At Nayara Bocas del Toro and at the Nayara Arenal properties, you can organize excursions and activities before your arrival or once you’re on site.

Are the Nayara Resorts adult-only?

Nayara Springs and Nayara Bocas del Toro are both adult-only resorts, while Nayara Hangaroa, Nayara Gardens, Nayara Alto Atacama, and Nayara Tented Camp are all family-friendly. For the other destinations, we recommend that children be old enough to safely participate in daily experiences so they can fully enjoy their stay, but we do offer childcare services with  prior reservation.

The nearest airport to Nayara Alto Atacama is in the city of Calama, which has connecting flights through Santiago, Chile, as well as a number of smaller domestic connections. Once you’ve booked your flight to Calama, let us know, and we can arrange your transportation to the resort.

Do I need to worry about the heat?

The grounds of Nayara Alto Atacama are far more comfortable than the surrounding area, thanks to numerous features in the design of the hotel and its location in a sheltered oasis. Still, The Atacama Desert does experience significant temperature variations, with high temperatures during the day and cold temperatures at night.

When venturing out to explore this otherworldly region, there are more factors to take into account like high and low temperatures, sun exposure, and rugged terrain, but with the proper equipment and the support of our tour guides, you’ll be perfectly suited for any conditions that may come your way.

You can explore our Atacama tour book to learn more about which clothing and equipment you might need during your stay.

What kind of activities are there at Nayara Alto Atacama?

You can immerse yourself in local culture and history, or embark on contemplative journeys to true wonders of the desert like the Atacama Salt Flats, the Tatio Geysers, the cacti forests, and the lagoons of the High Plateau, to name just a few. For those seeking to conquer the rugged terrain, there are more rigorous excursions like the Jauna Trek and Cactus hike, as well as the combination hiking-biking treks through Vilama and Devil’s Throat.

Whatever your adventure, at the end of these captivating excursions, the path to relaxation and absolute wellness awaits at the Puri Spa, which uses the ancient elements of fire, water, earth, and air as the basis for its treatments:

Just how good is the stargazing?

It’s not just good, it’s the top stargazing spot on the planet! There are three factors that contribute to the quality of stargazing — the incredibly thin air, the high altitude, and the lack of surrounding light pollution. Under a sky with the driest air in the world, located more than 2500m above sea level, and in a sparsely developed region (supported by resort policies to reduce all excess light for stargazing hours), there is no places on Earth that is better for seeing the stars, which explains why NASA and other astronomical organizations have observatories in the surrounding area.
